shapes

Take your tv. There’s one absolutely obvious shape, if your tv is like mine, and that is a square. But… there’s also triangles in there. Take that square and rotate and you’ll see that the composition of the square was an infinite amount of triangles, and, if you rotate it again, you’ll see circles composed the triangles.

It’s all about simplification.

Let’s just take a 2-dimensional square and not deal with the 3rd dimension. Do you see those lines that compose the square? Do you really see those lines? Because they’re not lines, they’re just a bunch of diamonds that look like a line. And the lines that made up the shape of the diamonds are all circles.

I could go on, but there’s no fun in exploring if I do all the work for you. Teehee.

"A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,
And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,
And the dry stone no sound of water. Only
There is shadow under this red rock,
(Come in under the shadow of this red rock),
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust."

- T.S. Eliot, The Waste Land (via danseurs)

“…the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love. It is impossible to think of a genuine revolutionary lacking this quality. Perhaps it is one of the great dramas of the leader that he or she must combine a passionate spirit with a cold intelligence and make painful decisions without flinching. Our vanguard revolutionaries must idealize this love of the people, of the most sacred causes, and make it one and indivisible. They cannot descend, with small doses of daily affection, to the level where ordinary people put their love into practice.” - Ernesto Guevara

Change | everything

How do you change the world of others when the only world you’re born to see is your world.  The only possible way to change is to understand; to understand the perspectives of all the other billion people.  Should we turn the world from up-down to left-right we’ll know that it’ll affect everyone because we know that they see the world as up-down as well.  Should we be present in a hostage situation, we would present moral support and interest in the safety of the hostages (for most people) because we know that they have ethics.  Should we choose to venture out to change the world we must first venture out to understand the world of self and others first.
